Pampady Block Panchayat
Pampady Block Panchayat is one of the Block Panchayats functioning as part of Kerala's three-tier Panchayati Raj system. It was established to coordinate the development activities of the Grama Panchayats within its jurisdiction and to implement various welfare schemes of the State and Central Governments.
The Pampady region has a long historical heritage. In ancient times, it was part of the Kingdom of Thekkumkur. In 1749 CE, Anizham Thirunal Marthanda Varma, the Maharaja of Travancore, annexed the Kingdom of Thekkumkur to Travancore. Pampady is believed to have had human settlements for more than a thousand years.
Following the introduction of the Panchayati Raj system in Kerala, Pampady developed into an important centre of rural administration and development. Pampady Block Panchayat began functioning with a focus on rural development, agricultural advancement, poverty alleviation, housing, social welfare, and infrastructure development.
