Pampady Block Panchayat is one of the Block Panchayats functioning as part of Kerala’s three-tier Panchayati Raj system of local self-government institutions. It was established to coordinate the development activities of the Gram Panchayats within its jurisdiction and to implement various welfare schemes of the State and Central Governments.The Pampady region has a rich and ancient historical heritage. In ancient times, this area was part of the Kingdom of Thekkumkoor. In 1749 AD, Sree Padmanabhadasa Anizham Thirunal Marthanda Varma, the Maharaja of Travancore, annexed the Kingdom of Thekkumkoor to Travancore.
